Now Is All We Have

The best thing you can do for yourself every day is to experience every moment. Being present is life’s most precious gift. So enjoy the moments where we notice the things we constantly overlook, like birds chirping or a beauty butterfly flying in the wind. Noticing these perfect moments can happen less often than they should because we are so stuck in our head. We are in a cycle of rushing to what’s next or or not getting over something that happened to us in 2003. We need less of that and more of enjoying and experiencing the world around us because now is all we have

The reason it is so complicated to be still, present, aware, or conscious, is because the mind covers the present moment with the past and the future. The mind’s main goal is to get you so focused on the past and the future so it can rob you of the present moment. Which is unfortunate, when the only real thing is now. It gets away with doing this because we accept our thoughts as truth and attach our identity to them. We continue to the point where our consistent thoughts become how we identify ourselves and our reality. You believe that you are your mind which is far from the truth! Do not let your mind run you. Love, joy, and peace cannot be truly experienced and appreciated until you are freed from the chains of your mind.

The only way to be in control is by disassociating from the mind. Without judgment observe your thoughts, emotions, and reactions instead of accepting them as facts. When you find yourself over thinking or over feeling about a particular thing. Identify it as past, future or ego. Secondly, we must realize that the past will never be again, the future is already written and that our emotions are just energy that needs to be released. Trying to escape the now will only create feelings of regret, depression, anxiety, worry, fear, and/or stress. Focusing on problems leaves no room for solutions.

The second you realize you are not present you are present! So, un clench your jaw, relax and accept the now. Be where you are. Look around. What colors, patterns, textures, and shapes do you see? Be still and be with those things. Become aware of the space you are sharing with everything around you. Listen to the sounds and the silence underneath those sounds. Drop down in your body & touch something. What do you feel? What does it feel like to you? Is it warm and fuzzy, or rough and prickly? Does it remind you of something? Become one with it. Are there any noticeable smells? Or can you still taste what you just ate? Lastly, check in with the tempo of your breath. Feel the air in your lungs as it comes and goes. Allow everything to simply be as you move deeper into the now.

This kind of presence is what truly matters, not all the things we can do and accomplish. Now is where God is! Wholeness, love, and peace is waiting for us now. Accept, feel, and surrender to every moment no matter where we are emotionally or physically. Know that with every moment there is nothing missing or broken. Whenever you get lost in your thoughts, realize it, call out the 5 senses, enjoy and repeat. Get good at this because now is all we have.
